About Tom

Tom has extensive experience in research and development, systems engineering, and business development with companies involved in visible, infrared, and X-ray image sensors, camera electronics, image and signal processing, and electro-optics systems. Tom has worked with commercial, medical, consumer, aerospace, defense, and industrial applications, including machine vision systems, microscopy and spectrometry, bar code readers, video bandwidth compression, digital X-ray systems, biofluorescence imaging, machine vision systems, digital cinematography, airborne mapping, and night vision systems.

Tom performs technology assessment and market analysis for start-ups as well as established companies in the imaging industry in his position at Imaging Innovations. ┬áPrior to that, he led programs on image sensor and camera development for defense night vision, space imaging, and biotech as Senior Director of Business Development for Imaging Systems at SRI International/Sarnoff. Other roles included heading engineering and business development of high performance camera systems for medical imaging, traffic, defense, inspection, and veterinary X-ray at Narragansett Imaging and Salvador Imaging and leading the development of MEMS, II/V semiconductor devices, and micro-optics for spectrometers, optical channel monitors, and optical computed tomography systems at Axsun Technologies. He was CEO and President of Photon Vision Systems (acquired by Panavision), a pioneer in high performance CMOS imager sensors including the world’s first 4k imager. At InfiMed and GE Medical, he designed digital radiography, angiography, and cardiology systems as well as digital X-ray detectors and MRI and CT image reconstruction engines. He started out his career at GE Global Research developing CCDs for signal processing and CIDs for imaging in the visible and infrared.

Tom obtained his BSEE at Lehigh University and his MS and PhD at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He holds 19 patents and has over 50 publications. Tom enjoys sports including skiing, volleyball, tennis, hiking, and kayaking.
